Our goal is to elevate your aesthetic by correcting overly prominent, protruding, or misshapen ears. Your ears, after your procedure, will beautifully frame your face, and be a feature you are confident to reveal to the world.

Types of ear surgeries

Most ear surgeries are performed to resolve protruding ears. As both cosmetic and reconstructive surgeons, we perform several surgical procedures:

Ear pinning

Called “otoplasty,” this surgery draws the ears closer to the head to frame the face, rather than being a noticeable feature. If you avoid certain hairstyles due to protruding ears, this surgery can increase your confidence in all the years ahead.

Ear reduction

If you feel your ears are overly large, they can be reshaped to create a more ideal balance. Shell-shaped ears can be altered to resolve the condition with a custom surgery.

Ear lobe correction

Some people inherit larger, hanging earlobes, and want to alter them so they are smaller and more attractive. If an earlobe has been ripped or stretched, they can be resolved with a minor in-office surgery.

Who is a candidate for ear surgery?

Most children and adults with prominent or misshapen ears are good candidates for a custom ear surgery at SVIA in Sacramento. For children to be eligible, the ears must be mature, which occurs at around age five or six. In adults, you should be in good general health to undergo the surgery and want to create a more appealing look to your ears.

What to expect in ear surgery?

If you are considering undergoing cosmetic ear surgery, you want to know what to expect. For adults, this surgery only requires local and intravenous anesthesia. It is performed with precision in our private, luxury clinic in Sacramento. The procedure takes one to two hours and is an outpatient surgery. Once completed, you can return home to rest and recover.

What is the recovery time?

Your ears should be fully healed within four to six weeks. You can return to work or school in about five days and should feel confident in social situations within five to ten days. You will have to protect your ears during healing and ensure they are not impacted so the incisions can heal easily.

Do not engage in any contact sports or activities that could bend your ears forward until they are fully healed. Typically, ear surgery does not lead to much discomfort, and over-the-counter medication is all that is needed, and only in the first days of your recovery.
